DNS problems

I've just installed Hamachi onto a Windows 10 machine, and I'm having issues with the DNS of other clients on the Hamachi network.

I can ping and access other Hamachi clients fine using their IP, however if I try and ping/access the clients using their Hamachi hostname/PC name, the host resolves back to my local IP of this PC (i.e. 192...)

I've tried a IPConfig /flushdns, however this hasn't worked, and if I try and ping for example "Steves-PC" this resolves back to my own local IP (this PC isn't called Steves-PC) either.

This kind'a seems more of a Windows issue... but if I try and ping another device on my LAN instead of a Hamachi client, it pings correctly...

Any ideas?

I'd prefer not to botch it by adding the IP's and hosts into the windows hosts file, if possible.

I have been trying to fix this problem for a few weeks now, and none of the solutions I have found so far have helped. This is like a last resort for me, everyone seems to have different solutions but NONE of them have worked for me. Whenever I run hamachi.msi I just get an error saying "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." I have tried downloading the installer from other websites, on different browsers, uninstalling hamachi (Which gives the same error), clearing my temp, allowing full access to all users to temp, and trying to launch the MSI through CMD with run as administrator. Nothing works. I am on windows 8.1 and would appreciate any help, this is driving me crazy.

i like to have a rPi with Hamachi to connect the entire lan via internet without portforwarding.

- i installed hamachi on a rPi

- i have a account at secure.logmein.com/central

- i setup a hub-and-spoke network (is that right?) and also tested with a gateway

- i can connect the rPi from a windows pc with hamachi client

but how to connect other devices in de lan at the rPi(192.168.0.10) side? for example a ipcamera at 192.168.0.250?

Hamachi went offline.

Yesterday (june 27th 2016), several logmein clients went offline all of a sudden. Interestingly, power button was on, but network was offline, as if somebody intentionally pressed "go offline". One had to manually "go online". Clients that went offline show no errors, there were no 'pop-up' notices or error messages. They all went offline almost at the same time.

I need to know what happened that day, should we expect it in the near future, and what should we do to avoid that thing to happen? (No user could do it manually, they have almost no access to logmein features).

In the good old days, we recieved notices about 'network maintenace' and other issues, by e-mail and by client's pop-up notice. Nowadays, it seems problematic for the company to notice its users.

Can Hub and Spoke used for someone to connect using a terminal service?

I have a hub/spoke network set up.

The reason I needed it, was so that someone could connect to a terminal session to an IP address of a server, that sits on the destination network. But we can't install Himachi ON that server.. so I installed it on a PC that has access to it, on that network.

Normally, VPN clients were used and once connected, could see it.

example:

Destination IP needed to be reached for server is 192.168.20.x..     The HUB is 192.168.20.xx on that subnet.

My computer is 192.168.10.x.. Is it possible to use Himachi on the hub and on my computer, to gain access to 192.168.20.x?

these are all computers on a domain as wlel.

Hamachi MAC Addresses?

Is there a range of MAC addresses that the Hamachi network card will use?  I can see that most are starting with 7A-79........ but would like to know what the starting and ending ranges would be if that is defined anywhere.

Thanks,
Brian
